Carousell is aware of a recent social media post from a user in Hong Kong regarding an inquiry from the Inland Revenue Department (IRD). We take all allegations concerning our users’ data privacy with the utmost seriousness. In response to the post, we immediately launched a thorough internal investigation.
Our investigation has conclusively confirmed that Carousell has not shared the user’s account information with the Inland Revenue Department.
Protecting the privacy of our community is a fundamental priority for Carousell. We do not disclose personal user data to any authority unless we are obligated to by law.
